Name Garden co-managed by South West College and Dungannon Primary School
Category Soil and Soil box Garden in Northern Ireland
Short description The Garden in Northern Ireland has been designed to be a sensory haven for children aged 0-6, to allow students aged 0-6 to grow and harvest there own crops.

A section on sensory play for the children will be added to explore their fine motor skills and to enhace their outdoor education. The site of the garden is situated between South West College and Dungannon Primary School, and is perefectly located to allow both establishments to benefit.

In the garden we plan to have soil beds to plant vegetables and crops, and also have soil boxes to allow children with disabilites to join in.

The site is 20mx 14m in size and is on a small sloped gradient with a fence around the site for safety.

The areas we have identified as key in our garden are:

    • Planter Box area
  • Soil bed area
  • Planter Jar/herb wall
  • Mini sensory area
  • Outdoor classroom
  • Area for mindfulness
  • Multi-coloured fencing area
  • Textured walkways (wood/stones/rubber)

Therefore, we will try to incorporate all this into the design.
