In the UK, South West College and Dungannon Primary School hosted a creative session for Teachers who are interested in gardening activities for students aged 0-6 years old.
The session was open to all teachers across the area and was well attended.
The main aim of the session was to gain feedback from teachers regarding their personal experiences of setting up and maintaining a garden in their school, including the impact this has had on students and the wider community. The teachers were split into 3 groups and presented with a number of questions addressing three areas:
- Teaching and training skills
- Technical aspects
- Design, management and stakeholder involvement.
The feedback received was very valuable. Additionally, we invited representatives from Eco-Schools and Best kept schools to speak to the teachers about awards schemes available in the UK for gardening in schools and this was well received.
